Just got back.
We appear to have lift-off. The document "Windows Live Hotmail 1" was in the print queue and my daughter deleted it. Immediately the fan sound diminished.
My daughter asked me to pass along her thanks. It is a great relief.
FYI: I've asked her to plug in her Maglink so that we can get to the bottom of the overheating (It heats up while charging her MacBook but not while charging my other daughter's.) I'm hoping it's related to the same problem and is now fixed. A twofer would be nice.
UPDATE: Several hours have passed; the Maglink is charging without the excessive heat; the fans are quiet; and the battery is lasting much longer. Great.
