This is a duplicate response, but I'll update my response to the original.

I don't know enough UNIX to fully understand what happened, but it looks like the ";" in your "vo;ume" typo created a break in the command which then picked up with the "ume," which Terminal reported isn't a recognized command.

That, by the way, is actually a kind of scary reason to either copy & paste Terminal commands or be EXTREMELY careful typing them. Nothing happened in this instance, but I wouldn't want to find out what would have happened if "ume" were a recognized command.
