I have just gone the terminal route but after typing in the correct wording, the word password appears with an inverted key next to it. I tried to type in my password but no letters would show.

I was allowed to type in my password after abcs-MacBook-Pro:~ abc$ appeared...I have just deleted my password. Why couldn't I type in my password?
