It's been 2+ years since I've dealt with Catalina, and I haven't got even the foggiest recollection of how I felt about it.
I feel that macOS has become so stable that rather than look for impetus to upgrade, I do it simply to smooth out the learning curve. I'd skip an upgrade only if I tried it and hated it.
