I did the same and, while everything first appeared to be almost the way it was in Excel, I soon found two show-stoppers:

1. In Excel I can choose to clear a cell by clearing All, or just Contents, or just Formatting, or just Comments. In Numbers, the only option is clear All.

2. In Numbers I can't split the document into panes with separate scrolling for each. That's an issue with very long spreadsheets where I want the top pane to be just the column titles.
