I actually had a 2012, 27" desktop. When it gave up the ghost in 2019, I bought the 21.5" instead. This size is plenty big enough for my purposes.
Thanks for the thoughts. We were the opposite....going from 21.5 to 27 (2017) because of my need to see more of some large spreadsheets. It's perfect for that although, depending on the physical size (width x height) of the screen, a 24" might work just fine. That way I'd also be into a new level of technology and have the additional benefits the technology might bring.....except I'd hate to buy an M1 chip when an M2 could be just around the corner (who's indecisive?).
