We'll see if he's able to run. Hopefully the impeachment trial ends with a ban on him ever holding any public office.
I"m thinking that if he's not convicted in the Senate, the possibility of his running in 2024 will stymie the ambitions of the rest of the field, so in a perverse sense, it'll be desirable.

The thought of his running is horrifying, but under any circumstances, the schism in the Republican party maaay not leave him - or his choice, if it comes to that - with enough of a base to beat a strong Democratic candidate.
