I just checked on my system using the Cookie app and found YouTube implants
  • 6 security cookies (which expire after 2 years)
  • a LOGIN INFO cookie (expires after 2 years
  • a PREF Cookie (expires after 1 week)
  • a Visitor Info cookie (Expires after 1 year)
  • an indexed database
  • a local store
Without further information from the developer, I would put my money on the PREF cookie containing the information on where you left off viewing or possibly it is embedded in the indexed database. If my first guess is correct it would mean the information on where you left off viewing would automatically disappear ~7 days after the initial viewing.
