I often wish I had coherent responses to some of the issues raised by people who wish we had done what Sweden did and never required sheltering at home (at least for some States). I finally found one that seems objective and makes sense. It was published in the Orange County Register in California. For those not familiar with California politics, Orange County was/is an overall wealthy Republican stronghold, although that seems to be changing somewhat based on the 2018 election results.

My take on the article is that we could have done what Sweden did if we had faith in and consistency from our leadership, universal health care, paid sick leaves for everyone and universal COVID-19 testing. And in the end, social distancing is everything (I would add hand washing, too )
