I've been meaning to ask if you've raised this issue because of a problem or just out of curiosity? An issue. "I have been having problems with my Apple Mail with it taking me Offline. To correct things I have used Onxy and run the tasks under Maintenance - Rebuilding: Cleaning: Misc Options. However, that's a bit of a pain and I'd just as soon find a better fix."I also experience other issues like Mail not wanting to file...which is solved by running Cocktail and rebuilding Launch Services. However my wife, whose account is on the same computer, does not experience the same problems.
