What was the "other app"? There are others here who might like to know.

https://binaryfruit.com/drivedx/usb-drive-supportI downloaded the DriveDx installer from their site and just followed the instructions when it noticed the external (UBS-mounted) drive. And, as you say, the report was not nearly as detailed as for the internal drives.
I only attached the report for the external drive. All internal drives had rather extensive reports, impressive enough for me to part with my cash.
