I can vouch for woodworking, in my case specifically woodturning, requiring patience and these days a deep pocket for decent wood. But watching a bowl, a box, a candle holder, or even a perfectly proportioned tool handle emerge from a chunk of Mesquite, or Texas ebony can be a really soul-satisfying experience.

But lets drop this before I am forced to chastise myself for getting so far off topic.
