To be clear: I can't get past the opening/announcement page under any condition ... in order "to do nothing". The browser is dead in the water.
Previous versions have always started up straightaway with everything (eg, bookmarks, prefs) carried over with no other action on my part (as you've experienced).
What am I missing? Is there some way of getting out of that opening/announcement page so that the browser will actually open?

FYI — My standard practice for installing a new app is to close the older one, remove it from the Dock, install the new/updated one, place a copy in the Dock, and open it. All done offline. And I've never had a problem with that protocol ... until now.

I just now tried to reinstall version 67.0 while online. It made no difference. I could not recover any settings from version 66.0.5 or find any way of doing so. I must be missing something significant to make it do what it did for you.
