Is the ["known"] maximum speed of light the absolute highest rate at which matter (photons) or energy (information) can be transmitted?
What is [known] is that light travels. An axiom is used in mathematics as a starting point, in this case the speed of light in a defined medium, say…a vacuum. There is no argument that I'm aware of that light does not travel, not even from my dog. My garden responds to the movement of light, leaning to or away from the light when shadows effect the flora's position.
