Thanks for the link. Unfortunately when I try to download it from the App store, it tells me that it won't work on my computer, which is ridiculous. El Capitan came out only a few months after I bought this computer. I think they see that my computer is compatible with High Sierra and so they want to force me to download that instead. No thank you.
Anyway, I've reconsidered, and I think I'll stay with Yosemite for now. I'm hoping (without much optimism) that Apple will eventually come out with a better OS, and I may upgrade at that point.
I guess that I should have downloaded El Capitan when it was still current, but I'd heard so many bug reports at the time, that I didn't want to touch it.
