I've never had any issues with my log-in to FTM. I had checked "Remember me on each visit" and, thereafter, clicking on Log In autofilled the name and password.
Using Firefox (now Firefox Quantum) I find this weird. Once logging into FTM (such as after the auto-login has expired) — which autofills because it's so designated in Firefox — and checking "Remember me", every time I click on my FTM bookmark, it immediately opens the home page — ie, there's no going to the signin page and no autofill.
Maybe that's how Safari handles things, which is another good reason to use Firefox.
