Also, my auto-login pref somehow got changed, and I had to enter a password to log in.
Although I haven't yet upgraded to High Sierra, I have noticed that software updates that require a restart in Sierra make me enter my password after the update is completed. Subsequent restarts do not (my preferences are also set for automatic login). Did you restart after this? What happened?
