Yep, plugged in. It was working okay but kind of dim. Then the next time I tried to use it it wouldn't start up at all. Not even the Apple page with the chime.

That's a new one on me; I didn't think electronics died "just like that".

I think you ought to at least start a new thread and maybe get some feedback before you buy a new MBP. (Be sure to be crystal clear about how much/little you've used the iBook, and for how long.)
