I don't use any window management software. And yes, I do do all that on a laptop screen.
And if I'm not mistaken, it's only a 13"er!
Your ~6 GB of Chrome RAM usage seems awfully high, though, unless there's an awful lot of images in the open pages. (An eBay page with 96 small images uses only about 200 MB in Safari 10.1.)
