And, it seems, Trump accepted a pretty nice gift. It would appears that Trump doesn't understand the meanings of either ethics or optics.

I didn't get into the details, but the President is allowed to accept certain gifts.

That was a deciding point regarding some of the items involved in the Clinton furniture episode.
