They're only 'mystifying' until you realize that they're the ravings of a lunatic describing the character and behavior of a congener.
However, as a linguist, I must say I enjoy Palin's inadvertent neologisms (such as the portmanteau squirmish). Lewis Carroll she ain't, so most (if not all) of her coinages are merely slips of the tongue/mind. Credit where it's due.
