I don't disagree with your main thesis, but I also didn't mean to suggest that Tromp would become president, only that his push for a "wall" to keep out undesirables might take the shape of the entire lower 48. However, there have been boobs elected to the office and, given the current mentality which seems prevalent in the US, stranger things could happen.
