It may be late in the game to make this suggestion, but perhaps still worth a shot. A recent update reminded me of
DetectX, a utility that lists ‘a variety of hidden files on your system’, including a.o. those installed by certain keyloggers. You might want to run it to see if one of those is present on your Mac, but note the
limitations. DetectX is similar to
KnockKnock, a utility I mentioned
elsewhere, with an overlapping albeit not identical list of ad- or malware checked for.
