The problem is on Mavericks which is on my internal hard drive. Could it be my installation after all this time? I've never had a problem before this. I've had Mavericks almost ever since it came out.
Reinstalling Mavericks would not hurt, but it would be equally easy and cost exactly the same to go ahead and upgrade to Yosemite while you are at it.
If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?
