Honestly, it's pretty much the same story with nearly every major OS upgrade. Folks who don't want growing pains should just wait for the 10.x.1 update (
EDIT: thanks for the link Jon!) and should research all their third-party apps & peripherals before running out and buying an upgrade. If you're an early-adopter, you have to expect these things. Not that it makes it okay, it just makes it nothing new or unexpected...
