I copied your entire text, opened TextEdit and made a new document. Cmd-T to convert to text format. Pasted. Then added
</html>
to the end. then saved it as "x.html", and opened with safari, and it opened and displayed as I think you were expecting. Was the "</html>" truly missing from your email? that would likely prevent it from displaying inline as html.
