That makes sense (Joe said basically the same thing). As an interesting side note, we patronize a vet who specializes in reptiles (for our snakes). His office has one of the original iMacs (CRT display, probably using OS 8 or 9). As far as I know, it has been running smoothly since he got it, back in prehistoric times. If the magnetic field from the CRT had affected the hard drive, he would have known about it by now.
