I'm very interested in your recommendation of LaCie drives. I was looking at
LaCie User Manuals - Precautions and came across the statement
Do not place the LaCie hard drive near sources of magnetic interference, such as computer displays, televisions or speakers. Magnetic interference can affect the operation and stability of your LaCie hard drive.Since I would be plugging the unit directly into the Thunderbolt port on an iMac, is this of concern? The thunderbolt cable is 14.5 inches long. Does this give a comfortable distance from the display?
