Thanks, Jon. I don't have any of the aforementioned utilities though Tech Tool was included free with my other Macs. I guess I will call AppleCare. Maybe I will get lucky and get a new hard drive or new Mac if they can't help me.
BTW, if my Mac could run Disk Warrior, would it deal with the slowness? When i read about it, it mainly talks about retrieving data.
