artie, I spent over an hour trying to download the maverick upgrade (with my backup partition) but no dice. I had disconnected everything as instructed but then I thought that the partition is on a peripheral so maybe I should disconnect that too. I then tried to download to my HD. I went to
www.apple.com/ca/OSX which directed me to OS Mavericks. I little window said free upgrade which when clicked asked me for my apple ID and password. So far so good. After that the same window changed to install apps which when clicked which again asked for my ID and password. This time it wanted my credit card etc. so I gave up. Is Mavericks free or what? jaybass
