I was curious. I don't know why I need a Wikipedia account, but when I tried to create one I got this:
Account creation from this IP address [number deleted by me] has been temporarily restricted. This is probably due to persistent vandalism from the IP address you are editing from, which may be shared by many people if you are connected to the Internet via a proxy server (used by most schools and corporations and some Internet service providers) or dial-up access.
What do you make of this? Can you explain it to me? Is there a way around it?
