At this point I'm not going to turn it off again without some guidance.
I'm continuing in that mode and have tried to think of more clues.
1. A few days ago I twice experienced a low hum when the machine was dealing with some graphical material. It was brief and disappeared long with the graphics.
2. Last weekend I installed about 4 drivers from Canon to make one of their pieces of software (MP Navigator Ex) work. The site was not clear of which drivers were which is why it took four tries.
Is it possible I should start from scratch with the Canon software? If so, how would I locate and remove their drivers?
