I can't say exactly what Kaspersky's web site is checking when you visit it, but it may have been your browser's Java plugin rather than Java itself. Plugins have an update cycle all their own. Assuming your Java update went well and is now up to snuff, that may not be true for your browser's plugin or the plugin database.
