I don't know if this will work in Word.

* in your document, switch to Arial Unicode MS as the font

* go to System Preferences -> Language & Text -> Input Sources and select Unicode Hex Input from the alphabetical list

* if needed, under Input source options, select Allow a different one for each document

* if needed, select Show Input menu in menu bar

* return to your document and select Unicode Hex Input from the Input menu

* type X

* hold down the option key (alt)

* type +0305

* release option key

* return to the previous font and Input source you were using

Back up everything you can't afford to lose: documents, mail, movies, music, photos, and other data and settings.
