If you want to have reset Spotlight so that it re-indexes your drive, go to System Preferences > Spotlight and select Privacy. Drag the hard drive icon into the Privacy pane and drop it there. Then, select the hard drive and click - to remove it. Spotlight will then commence re-indexing. (You can do the same thing with OnyX if you select Maintenance and then click the Rebuild tab.)

If you really want to disable journaling, Disk Utility can do it but it's not obvious. Select the volume and then Option-click the File menu. Disable Journaling will appear as one of the choices.
