Would you please clarify "their client apps?"
Those programs (or minimum versions thereof) required to access web sites (like browsers), and specifically certain functionality there. You see this for example with banks and financial institutions, particularly those requiring security dongles, which tend to come with special drivers.
So, if the minimum browser version and/or the dongle's driver require an Intel Mac, you're out of luck with a PPC Mac.
