Just curious, can you run commands with sudo in terminal? I think Snowy (or even Leo) will refuse to run sudo when the user's password is blank... which is perhaps the only thing saving you from the fate in my previous paragraph (but i've never verified that security feature).

EDIT: here's a simple terminal test...
sudo whoami
Password:
root
