This a a case of locking the bard door after the horse has gotten out, but I would look in Console > All Messages if and when you get another mysterious disconnection. The Console logs record all sorts of stuff other than error messages, including connection and disconnection actions.
If we knew what it was we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?
