I just read Pogue's lucid discussion of creating disk images from the hard drive via Disk Utility. I'm going to need a lot more intelligence (to comprehend it) and confidence (to put it into practice) before even thinking about doing anything like has been suggested. So, guess what isn't likely to happen ....
