Could bluephoneelite have triggered the Mail password problem?

The only thing I can say conclusively is that I think it was nothing more than my nth rerunning of the Combo that resolved my password request issue.

BluePhoneElite could have been at the root of your issue, though, particularly since it hasn't been supported since September 10th, 2010.

Try reinstalling BPE as per alternaut, but don't forget that if your original installation had somehow become corrupted and you reinstall a pristine version you'll learn nothing from the experiment.

At any rate, though, I'm happy to hear that your issue has apparently been resolved.

Edit: And, on the other hand, you could have been experiencing two different issues with two different causes.

Please let us know how you make out if you reinstall BluePhoneElite.
