What I missed there (actually, there is another link in that article) is that for restoring the system, or repair disk with DU one can boot into a hidden partition that Lion now creates, and which is called recovery HD. It is accessed by pressing the Option Key after a restart chime. Very neat.
That partition can also be accessed by depressing command-R at the sound of the chime.
