We have lift-off.
My curiosity got the better of me so I went to a local computer store (that deals in those "other" computers) and they gave me a jumper. I popped it on pins 7&8 and I can now see the drive on the iMac desktop.
Ironically, my daughter only kept system stuff on this drive and all her files on the other - so, if I never saw this drive, it wouldn't matter. However, I am now better educated and have a terrific tool.
