I may be remembering incorrectly, but I think maybe when the forums crashed way back when and we started anew, the title promotion system wasn't working correctly. In a thread on the topic, I made a joke about being willing to pay a nickel for one and voila -- one of the admins dubbed me Keeper of the Magic Nickel (titles still worked if done manually). I can't remember who did it, but I think alternaut? So yeah, there it is. I was gonna say I got it for slaying an evil Enron monster or something, but I'm too tired to think up such a good story.
