Can anybody confirm that a pristine OS X installation actually includes duplicate fonts?
Depends on what you mean by 'pristine'. For the most part, the dupes I've seen in the past occurred when Classic was a factor. (the dupes were caused by those in OS9's System Folder/Fonts).
