Scissor-switch keyboards are the typical PC keyboard design that's been around for years. The Microsoft ones I described use this technology, as did previous gen Apple Pro keyboards. However, it's really not close to the same thing as the old mechanical keyboards. I'd imagine it's pretty much what Ben's trying to avoid.
