Right, sorry, wasn't meaning to insult your friend. More to insult that version of Mac OS X. wink

Anyhow, it doesn't exactly work that way. To boot from another Mac, you boot that Mac, and then boot your Mac into Target Disk Mode, which basically makes it mount a drive on the first Mac (your friend's). In other words, it's not all that useful for your troubleshooting, now that I've read back a little and read the earlier posts. I'd suggest following Artie's idea. Hopefully you can use your friend's Mac to download and burn the hardware test disc.
