Ouch, why would your friend bother to run OS X 10.0? It was a barely-ready OS that was almost more a proof-of-concept than a viable commercial release. In other words: it sucked.
That said, your Mac would be booting to Target Disk Mode, so it doesn't really matter the other OS; It should work.
