Jon, I have sent a note to the Glimmer group. It seems that the first install of G-B was faulty/corrupt/? whatever. I could not follow the instructions and deactivate Glimmer because the box and the "activate...." line were gray type and would not respond to any input. Therefore I could not deactivate and could not escape the program. A second download to do a new install did the same thing! Third download gave me a complete pane where input would take effect. I could the follow the instructions and turn off and get rid of the program. The iMac, 10.5.8 is now working in a normal fashion. There may be a bug lurking in the downloaded program or I was just unlucky! Dave
