if you have ten windows up, and one is "locked"
how can you force quite just that one?
No simple answer (if one exists at all), but I wonder if the reason that one window is 'locked' is because it generated a dialog somewhere buried on screen. If true, the window may remain unresponsive until you deal with that dialog. And just to avoid further confusion with the terminology: you close (NOT quit) a window.
