Good evening,

I use macOS Sierra 10.12.5 on an iMac 21 1/2", 2.7gHertz Intel Core i5 Processor and used the Google Earth application in planning an overseas trip and I found, recently, that the Application will not commence from the dock. The Earth icon is left in the dock with a question mark as part of the icon.

The Application appears to have 'failed' in the last fourteen - twenty one days.

Internet reading leaves me with a variety of options, all however, are problematic to a lesser or greater extent.

Can anyone assist here please?

Quit Google Earth. Then, the simplest thing is to drag its icon out of the dock, open /Applications, and then drag the Google Earth icon back into the dock. That has worked for me in similar situations.

The question mark appears if the link to the application no longer works. This might happen with deleting an application, or with some updates if the new version isn’t exactly in place of the old version.

Or if the new version has a slightly different name than the previous one; perhaps a version number in the name.

On a Mac since 1984.
Currently: 24" M1 iMac, M2 Pro Mac mini with 27" BenQ monitor, M2 Macbook Air, MacOS 14.x; iPhones, iPods (yes, still) and iPads.

My thanks .
